These devices are commonly referred to as an “ONU”, some people know them as “media converters”, and they are functionally the modems for our fiber services. They take a fiber line and turn it into an ethernet line that you can plug into your router.

These typically live either in the demarcation box on the side of your home (in which case a power-over-ethernet adapter will be used), but if your fiber goes into your home you may find it mounted in a networking box being powered by a micro-USB adapter. If this is the case, please note that the ethernet line coming out of the ONU should be plugged into nothing but your router.
